ELECTRICITY & POWER SUPPLY AT VILLA GUFO
The only utility for which we are dependent on an external supplier is electricity. However, for gas, we use a private gas tank in the garden, and for water, we pump it directly from the ground.
Our electricity supplier is ENEL, but please note that Puglia’s electrical network is outdated, with above-ground cables. Electricity in this region, like in many parts of Europe, is limited, and during the busy summer months, demand often exceeds supply.
If there is a sudden power outage, it may be due to a temporary blackout from ENEL. A shutdown plan may be activated, temporarily cutting power to certain regions. While we sometimes receive advance notice, this is not always the case. Fortunately, these outages are usually short-lived.
SUSTAINABILITY & BACKUP ENERGY
Villa Gufo is equipped with solar panels on the roof, which generate a significant amount of energy used for electricity and heating water. This allows us to reduce our reliance on external energy suppliers and contributes to a more sustainable world.
In case of a blackout, our 10 kW battery can provide temporary backup power.
NO ELECTRICITY? WHAT TO DO
Please contact us immediately! We will check whether the issue is local or due to the energy supplier.
Important:
- If the electricity goes out, there will be no water, as the water supply (showers, taps, and toilets) relies on electric pumps.
- Emergency lighting is available in all bedrooms and communal areas, which automatically switches on using battery power.
- During thunderstorms or heavy rain, power may temporarily cut out but usually restores itself quickly once the weather clears.

Energy conservation is crucial worldwide, and in our region, where supply is already limited, we kindly ask you to be mindful of electricity usage:
- Only turn on the air conditioning when you are in the room.
- Make sure all lights are switched off when you leave.
